Ball of Yarn Christmas Crafts

Like most folks that crochet or knit, I have a ton of scrap yarn and nothing to do with it!  I found some uber cute Christmas projects that use a small amount of yarn.  Most of these crafts cover styrofoam balls with just a bit of yarn and glue and Voila!

I love the sage green in this yarn ball wreath from Country Living.

This is a Starbuck's inspired wreath by Kara Griffith.

I love the pink cheeks on this snowman by Happy Homemaker Me.

Pink Christmas

I remember when I was little my grandmother had a white tree with blue baubles (or was it a blue tree with white baubles).  Maybe even blue lights!  I am loving the colored trees this year.  I think PINK is my fave though.  Here's a few pics from Martha Stewart.

Now THIS, I am gonna have to make...but AFTER the holidays!

I love this front porch with all of the snowflakes.
We are gonna make some paper snowflakes today and hang then from the ceiling.

Box of Hugs

My girl Helen thought of an adorable idea for presents...a box of hugs!  With a 10x10 square of felt, some embroidery floss and a little love you can make them too.  These will be perfect for the grandparents AND it was such a fun craft for my little one.  She put a bit of joy in each one and they look so cute under the tree.  Helen put hers in a box but I couldn't bring myself to venture out in this freezing weather so we used plastic treat bags.  Thank you  Helen and Curly Birds!

Fabulous Frida Kahlo Dollhouse by Elsita

This little house is fabulous! I love the tubes of paint, the palette filled with colors, the potted plants on the porch, the stack of books, the birdies...I'm wondering which artist I would make one for? They would all be very different. Thanks for the inspiration Elsita! http://elsita.typepad.com/elsita/2010/11/frida-kahlos-miniature-house-and-studio.html#

Birds and Books

I found a great art project idea from Blue Cricket Design...I love birds and my whole house is decorated with them. The tufted titmouse is a bird that reminds me of my father (may he rest in peace). It was a bird that he always liked...and after he passed I was constantly seeing them around me as if they were watching over me. I like to think that he still does. The raven is a very spirtually cool bird. There is plenty of Native American lore attached to her. The truthseeker, the trickster, keeper of secrets, death, metamorphosis, a creature of change and strength. Either way, she provides a striking image, especially when viewed against the snows of winter...or in this case...the pages of a book.  Thank you Blue Cricket Design for the idea.

Country Living Pic

Great pic from Country Living. I love the rustic fence in the background and the sweet horse munching on the green apples.
